Postcards from Orcas Island

I came to Orcas Island for the summer and stayed for a year. What was meant to be a temporary escape slowly turned into a way of life—one shaped by ferry schedules, shifting tides, quiet mornings, and the kind of community that forms when you linger long enough to belong. Over the course of twelve months, the island taught me how to slow down, pay attention, and find beauty in repetition. This is a reflection on that year—on the seasons, the people, and the small moments that made Orcas feel like home.
